The idea for the Ballymacarbry Hostel and Community Centre sprang from the results of a Community wide questionnaire in 2003 when a local committee was formed to oversee the build of a new Community Centre.
The results of the questionnaire indicated that the residents of Ballymacarbry viewed the Hostel as a way to attract tourists and visitors to the local area, while also providing an income to maintain the Community Centre and its facilities.
The Community proactively raised funds in addition to grant aid that was provided and the Hostel and Community Centre were opened in 2007.
At present the Community Centre is home to the Hostel which sleeps 25 guests in addition to Large Kitchen Facilities, Meeting Rooms, a Sports Hall, Gym, Astro Turf indoor pitch and Theatre.
We have created a Centre that serves all members of our Community and we welcome visitors from near and far.
